Costa Coffee - Heathrow Terminal 5
In September 2007 we were commissioned by Costa Coffee to manufacture a prestigious sign structure - some might say sculpture - to be installed within Heathrow's Terminal 5 building in time for the opening in January 2008.
The first challenge was to bring the Architect's concept sketches to life by preparing detailed construction drawings.
A scale model was produced. This not only benefitted our client but also gave us a better understanding of the structure. After discussions between ourselves, the Architect, BAA and the Structural Engineers the project was signed off for manufacture. The six week construction period involved most of our in-house disciplines including steel fabrication, powder coating, digital printing and built-up letter manufacture.
The structure was assembled in one of our workshops before being dismantled for transportation to Heathrow.
