Ipsen Canopy
We were contacted by Gem Engineering based in Chester to quote for an interesting job for their client Ipsen, based in Wrexham, North Wales.
Gem specialise in the manufacture, installation and repair of steel and stainless steel fabrications.
Ipsen is a global specialty-driven pharmaceutical company.
The job brief was to manufacture a welcoming entrance canopy which would lead visitors into the internal reception area of the building, highly visible from the main car park. An isometric drawing was sent along with costs which were approved and manufacture began.
The steel frame, manufactured and fitted in place by Gem Engineering was to be clad with folded, powder coated aluminium panels to form an impressive freestanding structure. We would also manufacture metal built up letters to both side returns of the canopy.
The main challenge for us was we needed precision measurements from the framework and the client had requested seamless panels without visible fixings.
Internal foamex packers were routered and the large sections of aluminium were pre-assembled in our large workshop space.
Fixing took place on one of the hottest days of the year but as you will see from the finished photo, the challenge was met and the client was happy.
